How to make a Playlist on YouTube?

5 min read

If you're a YouTube viewer, you've probably all experienced it. One moment, I'm watching a great video and I just kill about 10 minutes of time. The next moment, another video that is equally interesting and fun is auto-played.

Two hours later, you ran out of two-thirds of the YouTube playlist. This is the kind of thing everyone has. While YouTube playlists are a really important feature on the platform, they are culturally underestimated.

It should be used by all creators. Tubetune.co We've also covered a little bit in the article "How to Get Started with YouTube Channels", but I'd like to talk a little more about this particular topic. Below we will tell you why playlists are essential and how to create playlists on YouTube.

1. What are YouTube playlists?

Before you start building your playlists on YouTube, make sure you understand what they are and why they matter. Each playlist is a collection of related videos, which are played one after another.

These include comedy playlists featuring some of the funniest online failures.

Playlists featuring the best live performances of all time, and playlists featuring Messi's best highlights. Whatever you come up with, you should probably have a YouTube playlist.

2. Why should I make a YouTube playlist?

a ) Viewer

YouTube playlist is a new way to create, and keep your best videos in place. As an example of such a type of playlist, curations are linked above that focus on a specific theme or topic and collect various videos from different channels. This can be easily shared with others.

 b)  Creator

First, the playlist can attract viewers for a long time, and as a result, it can improve the SEO of YouTube. Viewer retention plays a big role in how the YouTube algorithm decides the order of your videos in search results.

1)Better Viewer Experience

If you have a YouTube playlist, your audience can watch multiple videos in a row. I'm not saying that the viewer is lazy, but if the viewer is watching a single video, then you have to actively click to watch other videos. In the case of a playlist, it is automatically played and continues to flow.

2 ) Better Topic Coverage

As you know the playlists are also individually indexed in YouTube search results. For example, suppose you have a playlist about a camper van trip in Australia. In this case, if someone searches for this theme, you will not only see a video of your Australian camper.

But also a playlist. This way, videos on a specific topic can be combined into a single playlist to make it easier to find. Take my own example. I run a small YouTube channel that introduces you to the world's travels and adventures. Often, I tell stories across multiple episodes.

By creating a playlist for each travel experience, viewers can follow the story through each episode like a TV series.

3) Keep Your Channel in Order

It's also helpful to keep your channel organized. I've uploaded over 80 videos, but I only have 5 videos from my series "Why You Need to Travel" and only 8 road trips from Australia's "The East Coast".When viewers come to the homepage of my channel, they can see each series laid out.

If you just want to watch a video about Australia's East Coast, just click on its playlist. If you want to watch a series of videos that deal with road trips in Iceland, there is a playlist there.

YouTube playlists help you organize and curate everything.

3. How to create a playlist on YouTube?

Now that we know why you should make a YouTube playlist, let's explain how to make a playlist on YouTube. The basics are as follows.

Step 1: Access the YouTube Studio dashboard. Log in to your YouTube account.

Step 2: Go to your channel, and Click the MANAGE VIDEOS button to go to the dashboard.

Under this, you can choose to publish your playlist (anyone can see it on YouTube), not publish it (only you can see this playlist), or not publish it (only people with the playlist link can see it). Finally, click Create.

Step 3: The newly created playlist appears on the Playlist page of your YouTube Studio dashboard.

Step 4: To edit or add a video, however, over the playlist and click the pencil icon.

Step 5: Go to a new page where you can edit the title, add a video, and add a video description.

Step 6: To add a description, click the pencil icon (the cursor displays Edit description).

You can enter up to 5,000 characters, but it's best to keep it short, just like the video description on YouTube.
Keep it simple and to the point, and tell your audience exactly what you're doing and what you expect within three sentences. Click SAVE.

Step 7: First, click Add Video. This will open a window where you can search for YouTube videos to add to your playlist, paste the URL of your videos, or browse your own YouTube videos.

Step 8: When you find the video you want to add (multiple videos can be selected at once)

Click "Add Video".  To change the order, click the double dash icon (-) to the left of each video's thumbnail and drag it up or down on the video.

How Long Your Playlist Can Be?

By the way, don't worry too much about the length of your YouTube playlist. Rather, some people say that the longer it is, the better! The more videos viewers watch, the longer (hopefully) they will watch.

Collaboration Options: Select a collaboration from the ellipsis drop-down menu. Click Collaborate to open a new window where you can turn on or off the ability for others to add or edit the playlist. Check this box to let YouTube create playlist links and share them with others.

How To Keep New Videos at the Top?

Below the collaboration is the playlist settings. Click this to open a new window with several on/off options. First, you can embed playlists on other websites. Then you have the option to automatically place the newly added video at the top of the playlist.
Finally, you can configure your playlist as a series playlist. This way, your playlist will be marked as an official video set to watch. This will make viewers aware that it is a series and watch each video in turn. It also changes how your YouTube algorithm displays your videos in search results.
Conclusion
In conclusion, creating a YouTube Playlist is an easy process. Follow the steps above to collect videos that match your interests and themes. Access playlist settings to sort and delete videos in your playlist.  You can share your playlists by copying or sharing their links on social media. With these steps, you can easily create and manage playlists on YouTube, organize your favorite videos, and share them with others. Enjoy your own original collection!
